Welcome to Twynham Low Secure Forensic Unit, we have exciting opportunities for developmental RMN and RNLD posts. Our aim is to provide you with learning support, mentorship and supervision to enable you to become a band 6 nurse within an inpatient setting.
The unit is part of the multi-disciplinary Dorset Forensic Services which consists of Nurses, Psychiatrists, Doctors, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Mental Health Support Worker and Administrators.
This post will work closely with all disciplines to assist and coordinate patient care packages aimed at recovery and supporting transition into the community.
You will work closely with other Nurses, the Clinical Leads, Ward Manager, Service Manager and other disciplines and will receive regular supervision and training opportunities both internally and externally.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course, and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
We have a programme designed to support your development within the inpatient setting, commencing as a band 5 role with the view to progressing into a band 6 position. The competencies have been designed to ensure we support you in gaining the knowledge and experience you need to carry out your duties competently and confidently.
You will be supported with this by your line manager and an identified mentor alongside the multi-disciplinary team to meet these competencies and thrive within our team. We envisage that completion of this programme is achieved within 12 months of commencing your post, however if you achieve the programme in advance of that time period, your progression to band 6 could be achieved earlier. This will be achieved by having monthly line management supervision which will feed into your appraisal.
If you are newly qualified you will have access to a fully structured preceptorship, you will then be offered bespoke CPD opportunities.
The post is full time working 37.5 hours a week although part time will be considered.
We would welcome applications from newly qualified *nurses/occupational therapists/ physiotherapists, and we provide a very comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified healthcare professionals.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
