It’s Not Just Cooking. It’s Comfort, Connection, and Care.

We’re looking for more than someone who knows their way around a kitchen. We’re looking for someone who knows that a good meal can be the highlight of someone’s day. Someone who understands that food is memory, comfort, and care - all served on a plate.

As our Cook, you’ll be cooking for people who’ve lived full, incredible lives - people who deserve food that feels like home.

Yes, it’s a busy kitchen; Yes, you’ll be working to dietary needs, preferences, and routines. But what you’re really doing? You’re making someone feel seen, safe, and satisfied.

A bit about the role:

· Plan and prepare and cook balanced, home-cooked meals tailored to resident's dietary needs

· Ensure meals are presented well and served on time

· Follow food safety, hygiene, and nutritional guidelines

· Maintain a clean and well-organised kitchen

· Work collaboratively with care staff to ensure resident's needs are met

· Bringing warmth, pride, and maybe even a few laughs into the heart of the home.

What we're looking for:

· An experience passionate Cook

· Knowledge of food safety, allergies, and dietary requirements (e.g., soft diets, diabetic-friendly meals) - or a willingness to learn

· Ability to work efficiently, independently and keeping calm under pressure

· A caring and compassionate attitude

· Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

· A warm, friendly personality and a good sense of humour - it helps in a busy kitchen!

We can offer you:

· A supportive team who understands the power of what happens in the kitchen.

· A workplace where you’re not just the cook - you’re a valued part of our residents’ day.

· Induction programme with a dedicated mentor to help you feel supported and comfortable in your new role

· Free DBS check and auto-enrolment pension

· The use of ‘Flex Earn’ enabling you to access wages earnt in advance of pay day, viewing earnt wages in real time

· Blue Light Card eligibility – discounts on retail, eating out, and more!

· Free meals provided when working long shifts

· Access to Peninsula Care Homes Mental Health First Aider; an external Confidential Care helpline for you and your family members; Peninsula Care Home’s ‘Whycare?’ app and Refer a Friend scheme (earn money for bringing your friends on board!)

· The chance to make a real impact through something as simple, and profound, as a warm meal.

This isn’t just cooking. This is care - with flavour, heart, and purpose.

If you believe food is one of the best ways to care for someone - we’d love to meet you.
