Lufton College
Cambian Lufton College is a specialist residential education provider for 16-25 year olds with Autism, learning disabilities and complex behavioral and emotional needs. The college provides a pathway to prepare our students for adulthood, equipping them with the skills and qualities to lead a fulfilled, independent and ambitious life.
The Role
We are looking for a Grounds Person with the vision to support us in maximizing our existing grounds and gardens to allow for the best use. You will be responsible for their upkeep and maintenance, ensuring that they are both attractive and safe at all times. By carrying out this role well you will be allowing us to create a safe and pleasant working environment for our young people and employees.
Responsibilities
- Planting and maintaining trees, grass, shrubs, plants and flowers.
- Cleaning and maintaining the appearance of outdoor furniture and features.
- Ensuring the grounds are clean and all walkways are clear of rubbish/debris
- Operating and maintaining garden tools, including power tools such as mowers, pressure washers and leaf blowers etc.
- Weatherproof outdoor areas where necessary
- Apply mulch, pesticides and any other necessary treatments to maintain green areas.
- Emptying bins on a daily basis.
Desirable knowledge and skills
- Ability to manage own workload
- Understanding of grounds maintenance
- Knowledge of various gardening techniques and understanding of necessary products, such as pesticides.
- Ability to safely operate (and maintain) gardening equipment and power tools
- Organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
