Length of Contract: 2-3 months
Working Arrangements: Hybrid - 3 offices days/2 WFH
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire S70 2DR
Our Client is seeking a Quality Assurance and Governance Officer who will be within the Quality Assurance and Improvement Team in Children’s Services. You’ll play a key role in supporting continuous improvement across Children’s Social Care and Safeguarding, with a particular focus on Children in Care and Fostering Services. Acting as the key link officer for these areas, you’ll lead on delivering the Quality Assurance Framework and contribute to the ongoing development of policies and procedures.
One day per week will be dedicated to supporting the Quality Assurance programme for Services for Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Previous experience or knowledge of SEND is desirable but not essential.
The successful candidate will bring strong analytical and organisational skills, a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people, and confidence working with complex data and information systems so a good understanding of children's services and safeguarding is a must. You’ll also be comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and presenting findings to professional audiences.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate full case file audits and dip sampling within social care services.
Analyse audit outcomes and produce clear management reports and presentations as part of learning and improvement cycles.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Quality Assurance Team, the Practice Development Hub, and service managers to embed quality learning.
Maintain and analyse quality data using the case management system and Excel spreadsheets.
Present findings and learning to service forums, team meetings, and performance clinics.
Support the ongoing maintenance and development of policy and procedure repositories (Tri.X).
Contribute to the governance and reporting frameworks that drive service improvement.
Essential Criteria:
Education and Training
Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Experience
Proven track record in continuous service improvement and quality assurance
Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
Skilled in developing and maintaining information systems
Experience supporting governance and reporting processes
Ability to establish and maintain effective business systems and procedures
Knowledge:
Understanding of children’s services and safeguarding contexts
Knowledge of service improvement methodologies and their impact on outcomes for children and families
Awareness of national and local policy frameworks influencing children’s services
Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
Able to prioritise workloads to meet tight deadlines
Confident in presenting information clearly and effectively
Skilled in producing accurate reports and presentation materials
Additional information:
The role requires flexibility to meet operational needs.
Hybrid working arrangements are available, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
