Are you looking for a varied and rewarding role which contributes to food security, the protection of the Scottish rural economy, and the environment?
An opportunity has arisen to join the Virology & Zoology (V&Z) branch within the Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA) division of Scottish Government. The core function of the branch is to carry out diagnostic testing on a range of samples to meet the Scottish Government’s commitments in relation to Seed Potato Classification and Plant Health Regulations.
The primary role of the Zoology Diagnostician will be as part of a team processing a wide variety of samples. You will be responsible for sample receipt, processing and analysis, and will help to ensure that all work on site is quality controlled and meets the expected standards of customers.
The post will be based in the Zoology Laboratory, providing technical laboratory support in the areas of Nematology (60%) and Entomology (40%), although you will be expected to be flexible and be willing to work in any area of the branch as required.
