2 x Joiner - Fire Door - Facilities Company - Aberdeen - £23 per hour CIS - 18 months of work
CBW have a new opportunity for two experienced and skilled Joiners to undertake the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire doors within a busy student accommodation environment. The successful candidates will ensure all work complies with fire safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and site standards, contributing to a safe and compliant residential setting for students.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, maintenance, and repairs of fire doors and frames to current fire safety standards (BS 8214 and BM Trada requirements).
- Conduct fire door inspections, identifying defects, damage, and non-compliance issues.
- Replace and adjust door furniture, closers, hinges, seals, and glazing as required.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of finish and in line with relevant fire certification requirements.
- Liaise with site management and residents to minimise disruption within occupied accommodation.
- Complete daily work reports, inspection checklists, and compliance documentation.
- Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively as a two-person team to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and within agreed timescales.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified Joiner / Carpenter with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Proven experience in fire door installation, maintenance, and remedial works.
- Knowledge of fire stopping, door hardware, and passive fire protection principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when working in occupied buildings.
- Full UK driving licence (if travel between sites is required).
- Own tools and PPE.
Desirable
- BM Trada / FDIS accreditation or willingness to obtain.
- Experience working within student accommodation, residential, or public sector buildings.
- Awareness of PFI / FM operational environments.
- Competitive hourly rate or salary (depending on experience).
- Long-term project with potential for ongoing work.
- Supportive working environment and training opportunities.
