The role: Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is seeking a Principal Project Manager to lead the delivery of its Cloud Transition Programme. The post-holder will co-ordinate large-scale migration projects, ensuring successful transition of NHS Wales services to Public Cloud environments.
You’ll provide strategic project management, ensuring delivery on time, within scope and budget, while driving cultural and operational transformation across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage complex digital transformation projects within DHCW’s Cloud Transition Programme.
Oversee planning, governance, and risk management processes.
Engage and manage multiple stakeholders across NHS Wales.
Develop project plans, business cases, and resource schedules.
Ensure benefits realisation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
Line-manage and mentor project staff, promoting best practice and accountability.
What the client is looking for:
Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Professional project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, PMI).
Proven success delivering large, complex digital or transformation projects in a public sector or large-scale IT environment.
Strong stakeholder engagement, leadership, and communication skills.
Excellent risk, financial and resource management experience.
Desirable:
NHS Wales or wider health sector experience.
Certification in MSP, Agile, or Management of Risk.
Welsh language skills (Level 1 or above).
Significant understanding and knowledge of the NHS, including the political, strategic and operational environment in which it operates.
