1. Resident Care
a. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate residents’ care plans according to their physical, emotional, and social needs.
b. Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely.
c. Monitor residents’ conditions (vital signs, symptoms, mobility, nutrition, hydration, etc.) and promptly report any changes to the GP or healthcare team.
d. Provide personal care support when necessary (e.g., hygiene, dressing, toileting) while preserving dignity and independence.
2. Clinical Responsibilities
a. Perform wound care, catheterization, injections, and other nursing procedures as required.
b. Manage long-term conditions such as diabetes, dementia, and hypertension.
c. Ensure infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols are followed.
d. Maintain accurate and timely medical and care records.
e. Support palliative and end-of-life care with sensitivity and compassion.
3. Documentation and Reporting
a. Maintain up-to-date care plans and nursing notes.
b. Record medication administration (MAR charts).
c. Report incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns in line with policy.
d. Communicate effectively with doctors, social workers, families, and other healthcare professionals.
4. Leadership and Supervision
a. Supervise and support care assistants, delegating tasks appropriately.
b. Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback to junior staff.
c. Promote teamwork and a positive, caring environment.
d. Ensure compliance with care home policies and regulatory standards (e.g., CQC in the UK).
5. Emotional and Social Support
a. Offer emotional support to residents and their families.
b. Encourage residents’ participation in activities that enhance well-being.
c. Foster an atmosphere of respect, comfort, and trust.
