Crynodeb

To ensure the security, cleanliness, and basic operational upkeep of two school sites through daily unlocking and locking procedures. The role includes routine checks, minor maintenance support, and contractor liaison to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for staff and students.

Hours of Work:
New Directions PRU: 07:30am – 11:00am

Tunmarsh PRU: 15:00pm – 18:30pm

Total Weekly Hours: ~35 hours
(Some flexibility may be required depending on operational needs)

Key Responsibilities:
Site Security & Access
Open and unlock the New Directions PRU site each morning (07:30am).

Secure and lock the Tunmarsh PRU site each afternoon (18:30pm).

Conduct internal and external site checks during each unlock/lock session.

Ensure all doors, windows, and gates are appropriately secured.

Set and deactivate alarm systems as required.

Facilities & Maintenance Support
Refill paper towels, toilet rolls, and other consumables in staff and student facilities.

Report or escalate any damage, health & safety concerns, or site issues.

Liaise with contractors for any urgent maintenance issues identified during checks.

Conduct minor maintenance or makeshift fixes where appropriate (e.g., temporary pest control barriers around the minibus).

Site Monitoring
Maintain oversight of the premises while on duty, ensuring it is kept clean, tidy, and free of hazards.

Support with pest control measures where necessary, especially around external areas such as minibuses.

Ensure external areas such as entrances, playgrounds, and paths are safe and presentable.

Other Duties
Ad-hoc caretaking duties as directed by the Site or Facilities Manager.

Provide holiday/sickness cover for caretaking duties at either site where needed.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Previous experience in a caretaking or site maintenance role.

Strong understanding of building security and basic H&S procedures.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (due to split-site nature).

Desirable:
Experience working in a school or educational environment.

Basic maintenance or DIY skills.

Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities within an education setting.
