Teaching Assistant - Year 1 High Needs Support
Brent (commutable from Harlesden, Willesden Green, Neasden, Wembley, Cricklewood)
£105-£115 per day
Start Date: November 2025
Contract: Full-time, long-term (Full Academic Year)
Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 class with a small group of pupils who have high additional needs. This rewarding position involves supporting three children - one with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), one with Down Syndrome, and another with ADHD. Two of the pupils also require personal care, so compassion, professionalism, and reliability are key.
About the Role
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to create a supportive, inclusive environment where every child can thrive. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Assisting with personal care sensitively and respectfully.
- Using visual, sensory, and communication-based strategies to build engagement.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation.
- Helping pupils develop independence, confidence, and social interaction skills.
- Liaising with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support and progress.
This is an ideal role for someone who is calm, empathetic, and passionate about helping children with complex needs reach their potential.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience supporting children with ASD, Down Syndrome, or ADHD in a primary setting.
- Comfortable with personal care and daily routines.
- Patient, flexible, and able to manage a variety of needs throughout the day.
- Positive and proactive team player with excellent communication skills.
Why Work with Long Term Futures?
- Long-term stability in caring, inclusive schools.
- Weekly pay via our simple digital system.
- Free CPD, including SEN and personal care training.
- Personal consultant support and ongoing career development.
