An opportunity to join an experienced, versatile team, delivering a first-class Lifeguard service to our world class Armed Forces personnel and associated civilian staff and families.
Position Overview
Based in HMS, RALEIGH the post holder will deliver confident and competent lifeguarding around the Swimming Pool in the Sports and Recreation Centre.
Main Responsibilities
In accordance with the Normal Pool Operating Procedures, the role involves ensuring the safety and good conduct of all swimming pool users while maintaining close supervision of pool activities. The individual is expected to take a lead role in emergency situations and monitor the usage of the pool to ensure it operates smoothly and safely. Responsibilities include ensuring that all equipment is efficiently utilised and that the pool area, including changing rooms, is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene. The position also requires maintaining an acceptable level of fitness and competency to perform rescues, including the ability to recover an adult from the pool. Additionally, daily water readings and samples must be taken, with accurate records kept to ensure the pool meets all recommended and legislated quality standards. The role may also involve undertaking any additional tasks as directed by the Line Manager, including providing support for special or extraneous events.

In addition, the individual will be versatile, intuitive, and professional with good judgement and absolute integrity. Pro-active and when required and responsive to changing needs of the business and demands of the customer, while remaining calm under pressure and self-motivated, the incumbent will be reliable and well presented, giving a positive image of MITIE company values. In addition, the following is needed.
The ideal candidate will hold a current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, which is essential for the role, and preferably have experience in a similar position. A record of participation in in-house lifeguard training is also required, while additional qualifications such as First Aid training and an IOSH Working Safely Certificate are highly desirable. The candidate should possess strong organisational and motivational skills, demonstrate a high degree of integrity, and have a proven track record of delivering quality service in a customer-facing environment. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with the ability to build effective working relationships. The role requires good IT literacy, a proactive attitude, and the capacity to adapt to change and manage short-notice adjustments to requirements and deadlines. A good standard of education is also expected.
Additional Information
MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required. To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance and 10 years for Developed Vetting prior to the date of application. All Developed Vetted posts are required to be UK Nationals.
Proof of right to work in UK essential.
The Contract operates a 15 hour working week between the hours of 0730 and 1700 Mon to Fri and weekends .
Required to wear approved company work wear.
