About the Role
Market Place Shopping Centre is seeking a customer-focused Security Officer to join our established management team.
Located in the heart of Burgess Hill next to the train station, the centre features 33 retailers, a busy office block, and
residential units – creating a lively and varied environment.
As our Security Officer, you’ll be the friendly, approachable face providing front-of-house support to all customers while
conducting essential patrols and security duties throughout the centre.
You will:
* Maintain security, health & safety, and stakeholder relationships.
* Demonstrate expert knowledge in de-escalating conflict and handling security-related incidents.
* Build strong working relationships with tenants and your team.
* Act as a key team member focused on delivering service excellence and a “how can I help?” approach.
* Receive full training and ongoing development, enabling you to make a measurable contribution to GUK’s continued success.
Core Responsibilities
* Conduct regular patrols to ensure the centre is safe, well-presented, and maintained.
* Report any faults or issues to management promptly.
* Provide assistance, information, and guidance to shoppers, tenants, and the public.
* Monitor CCTV and respond appropriately to incidents.
* Complete accurate incident reports and follow GUK’s and the client’s procedures.
* Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism at all times.

Requirements
* Valid SIA Licence (essential)
* CCTV Licence (desirable – must complete training once in role)
* Right to work in the UK
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Basic IT and report writing skills
* Strong problem-solving ability and use of initiative
* Good level of spoken and written English
