Pay Rate: £130–£160 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with a progressive SEND school in Hull, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, to appoint an experienced and compassionate SEND Tutor. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated educator who is committed to creating engaging, tailored learning experiences for pupils with diverse additional needs.

Your day-to-day role will be supporting a small group of children, generally between 3-5 in total with learning, emotional and behavioural support. No 2 days are the same so this role required someone who thrives in varied environments and isn't afraid of the unknown.

About the Role:

As a SEND Tutor, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering personalised education and supporting pupils who may require one-to-one or small-group intervention. Working closely with the SENCO and Teaching staff, you will:

  • Be involved with differentiated lessons that meet each pupil’s individual learning goals


  • Support pupils with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties


  • Create a calm, nurturing learning environment that encourages progress and confidence


  • Implement effective strategies to manage behaviour and promote positive engagement


  • Assess progress, record outcomes, and adapt approaches to meet ongoing needs


  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and outside agencies to ensure holistic support


    We’re Looking For:

    The ideal candidate will be passionate about SEND education and experienced in adapting teaching to meet individual needs. You will:

    • Have experience supporting or teaching pupils with SEND in school or alternative provision settings


    • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management skills


    • Be able to support teachers deliver lessons that inspire, motivate, and build confidence


    • Be flexible, creative, and dedicated to helping every child succeed


      • Have experience as a Youth support worker or similar
