About the Role and the Team:
Camden Council’s Adult Safeguarding Service supports adults at risk of abuse or neglect, ensuring their safety, rights and wellbeing are at the heart of all interventions.
This team works with adults who may be vulnerable due to age, disability, mental health, physical health or other complex needs. The service is responsible for responding to safeguarding concerns, carrying out Section 42 enquiries, and working closely with partner agencies to protect individuals and promote independence.
Social workers in this service play a key role in managing risk, supporting individuals to have choice and control, and applying the principles of the Care Act 2014.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake Section 42 enquiries in line with statutory duties.
Manage a complex caseload, assessing and responding to safeguarding concerns.
Work closely with service users, carers, families and partner agencies to develop and implement effective safeguarding plans.
Apply the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal, ensuring service users are at the centre of decisions.
Complete professional assessments and risk management plans.
Maintain accurate case records in line with legal and local authority requirements.
Attend strategy meetings and case conferences, contributing to multi-agency decision making.
Promote empowerment, independence, and person-centred practice.
Essential Requirements:
Degree or Masters in Social Work and current SWE registration.
Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in Adult Safeguarding or related services.
Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and other relevant legislation.
Experience of undertaking Section 42 enquiries.
Excellent assessment, communication and report writing skills.
Right to work in the UK.
