We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 physiotherapist to work at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The post is a Band 6 post which will include rotational periods in the Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU) and at the two Acute Stroke and Rehabilitation Units at North Tyneside and Wansbeck.

The successful applicant will join our friendly teams and work between North Tyneside General Hospital, Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital at Cramlington and Wansbeck General Hospital.

The successful candidate will be required to participate in the seven-day working and Bank Holiday rota for inpatient services.

The successful candidate will also be required to contribute to the respiratory service at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital. This includes an evening shadow on call rota and occasional nightshift commitment.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience as a Physiotherapist in orthopaedics, elderly care, neurology including stroke and respiratory. We have a physiotherapy led NIV service. Therefore, NIV experience would be advantageous.

The successful applicant must also demonstrate excellent communication skills with both the multidisciplinary team and peers. There must be evidence of continued professional development demonstrating experience to support applications.

Applicants will be expected to participate in our 7-day working rota. It is noted that in the future some posts may not be traditional Monday to Friday as we embrace full 7 day working.

It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.

• To assess, diagnose and treat an independent clinical caseload within the stroke speciality.
• To work as part of the physiotherapy team under the guidance and support of more experienced highly specialist senior physiotherapy staff.
• To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to support working towards Stroke National Clinical Guidelines and SSNAP targets.
• To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
• Contribute to student education. Student educator status is desirable.
• To support the day-to-day leadership and organisation of the team
