At UCLH we have been running a successful youth volunteering project since 2019. Engaging up to 100 16 and 17yr olds a year, the project aims to support young people to volunteer in roles which enhance our patient experience whilst also giving participants the chance to gain experience of being in a hospital.
During the school year young people are engaged in opportunities that take place after school and at weekends. Over summer we then offer a more intensive program involving 40-50 participants.
We are looking for someone to provide maternity cover for our current coordinators for 12 months from December 2025.
Key strands of the work will include recruiting and selecting new participants to the program, developing opportunities (including the summer program) and ensuring volunteers are supported.
The coordinator would be directly facilitating some opportunities themselves. This includes further developing group-based activities, including volunteer clubs that run on Saturdays and during the week.
You will be an experienced volunteer manager with experience of working with young people. With a can-do attitude and excellent communication skills you will be able to easily build rapport with volunteers, staff and stakeholders in order to understand need and support services.
Please note that to be longlisted, within your personal statement you will need to demonstrate significant experience of working with volunteers.
Interviews will be conducted on Wednesday 19th November 2025.
