Glasgow Museums Biological Records Centre, based in the Museums and Collections team, is the Local Environmental Records Centre that covers the Glasgow City Region and the eight local authorities within it. It provides robust, up-to-date biological data about wildlife and the environment. We have secured funding from Glasgow City Council and Glasgow City Region to implement the first year of a three-year development plan for the records centre.

What you need to know
Hours: 35 per week.
Contract type: Fixed Term until 01/01/2027
Pay details: The listed salary is for a full-time role. If you’re applying for a part-time or bank job, we will calculate your pay on a pro-rata basis.
Location: Hybrid. You will spend part of your week at home, and part of your week in one of our offices.
What you’ll do
As a Collections Officer (Biological Records), you’ll be a part of an established team, reporting to the Senior Curator. You’ll play an essential role in managing the biological records database and make wildlife data available to communities, organisations and individuals. You will develop an expert knowledge of the biological records database and subject area and maintain the biological records database through active data collation and collecting.

We’re looking for:
- A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area
- At least two years’ experience working with and processing biological records
- Knowledge of local environmental records centres
