We are seeking a skilled and versatile Maintenance Operative - Multi-Trade to join the Estates and Facilities Directorate. This key operational role involves delivering a broad range of planned, reactive, and preventative maintenance services across our buildings and infrastructure. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical competence across multiple trades, a commitment to safety and service excellence, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and customer-focused environment.


About the Role

As a Multi-Trade Maintenance Operative, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance and repair services across our buildings, infrastructure, and equipment. From fault-finding and preventative maintenance to installations and minor refurbishments, you'll apply your broad skillset to keep our facilities running smoothly and safely.You'll be the first to respond to maintenance requests, diagnose issues and either resolve them or escalating appropriately. You'll also support apprentices, collaborate with contractors, and ensure all work meets health and safety standards.


What You'll Bring

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant trade (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, electrical) or significant hands-on experience.
  • Proven ability to work across multiple trades with a strong understanding of technical processes and safety regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to work on-call/out-of-hours.

Desirable Extras

  • Experience using CAFM/Helpdesk systems.
  • Previous mentoring or supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with commissioning new plant and equipment.
