An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our newly designed team to deliver Nurse-led prostate diagnostics. You will become part of team who drive, lead, and showcase advanced autonomous nursing practice delivering suspected prostate cancer diagnostics in a high-volume centre.

We are recruiting a dynamic Advanced Nurse Practitioner in response to changing healthcare provision, to join us in a major role to transform from traditional practice and develop and innovate to a Nurse-led service ensuring seamless and effective care to patients on a suspected prostate cancer pathway.

You will be expected to act as a role model within a highly specialised role, championing change and improvement in cancer care through research and innovation, education and leading-edge practice ensuring our patients receive the very best and latest in diagnostics, cancer treatment and care.

The successful candidate must hold extensive urology experience and be an autonomous practitioner with advanced clinical expertise and decision-making skills to deliver safe pathways of care. Additionally, you must demonstrate visionary leadership with an ability to inspire and motivate others.

The role will be pivotal to working collaboratively with the MDT team to expand nurse-led services to shape the vision of a world class Urology service.

The ANP is an experienced registered nurse that uses advanced assessment and diagnostic skills in the management of patients referred with a possible diagnosis of prostate cancer. Diagnostic processes include: clinical assessment, consent, review of Imaging, transperineal biopsies under either general or local anaesthetic and relaying diagnosis.

The role will require delivery of a comprehensive urology diagnostic pathway for patients suspected of having prostate cancer and the management of patients on this pathway to the point of diagnosis and the onward referral/liaison with other services (e.g. Clinical/Medical Oncology). Perfoming prostate biopsies requires development of a highly specialist skill and the use of specialist equipment. The training of junior doctors and senior nurses in these skills is also an important part of this role.
