We’re looking for a kind, patient, and reliable person to support an elderly gentleman with a warm, easy-going nature and mild dementia. He lives comfortably in his bungalow, where he spends quiet days watching TV in his riser recliner chair. Although his memory can be a little patchy, he remains calm and content, and responds well to gentle, reassuring support.
Support is needed mostly on Saturdays, though not every week. Start times vary—some shifts may begin as early as midday, others later in the afternoon—and the role continues through the night until Sunday morning. Nights are usually quiet, from 10pm to 7am, with occasional assistance needed if he rings his bell for help using a urine bottle.
He requires steady physical support when walking, using a handling belt to help guide him safely between his chair, the toilet, and the bedroom. Evening tasks include heating a ready meal, giving medication with dinner and again at 8pm, helping him with undressing out of his day time clothing and assisting with his night routine. He usually goes to bed around 10pm and needs full assistance after using the toilet and walking across the corridor to his bedroom.
A clean driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, with parking available in a layby opposite the bungalow. This role suits someone confident working alone, experienced with dementia or mobility support, and happy to provide calm, respectful care.
Hourly pay is £22, with night shifts paid at a fixed rate.
