We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Food and Textiles Teacher to join our thriving creative faculty. The successful candidate will inspire students across Key Stage 3 and 4 to develop essential life skills through engaging and meaningful learning experiences. They will guide students in acquiring culinary knowledge, including the ability to cook, design menus, and cultivate a curiosity about nutrition. The candidate will foster confidence in exploring food as both a scientific discipline and a creative art form.
In addition, the candidate will be proficient in teaching textiles, encompassing both constructive and decorative techniques, and will support students in producing functional and aesthetically pleasing outcomes.
Our Creative Faculty is a supportive and brilliant team which includes art design technology, 3D Design, textiles, performing and food technology and is supported by technicians to provide engaging lessons and extra-curricular activities.
What the role involves:
• Teaching Food Preparation & Nutrition across KS3 and KS4
• Teaching textiles across KS3
• Designing engaging, practical lessons that develop creativity, critical thinking and independence
• Ensuring students gain a strong understanding of nutrition, food safety and sustainability
• Contributing to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular clubs or enrichment activities
What We’re Looking For
• A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) or a strong trainee due to qualify
• A genuine passion for food and textiles education
• Strong classroom management and the ability to motivate all learners
• A creative thinker who can forge good relationships with children
• Commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion
