Full-time: 37 hours per week
Salary: £27,694 - £28,598 per annum (SCP 10-12, depending on experience)
Location: Hethersett Village Hall, Back Lane, Hethersett, NR9 3JJ
About the Role
Hethersett Parish Council is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Administration Officer to join our small, friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to provide vital administrative support to our busy parish council.
Working closely with the Clerk, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of council business, from preparing meeting papers and maintaining our online presence to responding to public enquiries and supporting community events.
What You'll Be Doing
Working closely with the Clerk to prepare draft agenda and minute papers for upcoming meetings
Ensuring all pre-publicity of meetings is published in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972 Schedule 12
Maintaining the council's online presence including social media and website
Answering telephone calls and directing correspondence to appropriate officers, dealing with public enquiries about council services and activities
Designing materials such as posters using a Canva-based system (training provided)
Receiving correspondence and documents on behalf of the Council and bringing items to the attention of the Clerk and Council Officers
Receiving planning notifications and decision notices and sharing with Councillors, as delegated by the Clerk
Organising and setting up meetings both internally and externally, in person and virtual, including issuing invites and booking venues
Receiving, recording and reporting issues with Council assets and service delivery from partners or contractors
Assisting with projects, campaigns and engagement activities
Assisting in the organisation and delivery of Council events and Council-supported events
Maintaining an effective filing system for Council business
Undertaking training as required and other duties commensurate with the role as directed by the Clerk
What We're Looking For
Essential:
5 GCSEs at grades A-C (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics
Experience of general office procedures and record keeping
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Discretion in handling confidential information
Flexible, can-do attitude
Desirable:
Business and Administration NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Experience in a local authority setting
Knowledge of WordPress
