An opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant to join us within the orthopaedic division at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust ( Aintree Site). This is an exciting post which allows the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of the Orthopaedic trauma team here at Aintree.

An opportunity has arisen within the orthopaedic division at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust ( Aintree Site). This is an exciting post which allows the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of the Orthopaedic trauma team here at Aintree.

We are a 33 bedded trauma orthopaedic unit who covers all orthopaedic needs across Liverpool.

The role involves supporting qualified practitioners to deliver high levels of care to patients in an acute setting. The successful candidate would be joining a supportive and enthusiastic team who are committed to providing high standards of patient care.

A full trust induction and 2 week ward preceptorship will be available to the successful candidate, and support would be offered for future development.

The successful candidate must be able to work days and nights and be flexible to meet service needs.

Participates in all aspects of patient care with particular attention to personal hygiene and grooming.
Provision of patients toileting needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
Support of patients in managing incontinence and promotion of continence.
The recording of a patient’s fluid intake and output using fluid balance charts.
Preparation and serving of patient’s meals, drinks and snacks. Assisting / feeding patients as necessary.
The recording of patient’s dietary intake when indicated in the patient’s plan of care.
Enable patients to maintain/improve their mobility by use of exercise and mobility appliances.
Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the Registered nurse
in conjunction with the patient’s plan of care
Carry out any movement and handling within the safe practice guidelines from your mandatory training and in relation to the patient’s manual handling plan.
Obtaining specimens from patients for ward or laboratory testing.
Removal of cannula and catheters
