Requirements:
-Must hold a valid SIA Licence
-Previous experience in security is essential
Job Purpose
To protect property, people, and assets by delivering high-standard security services in line with the Assignment Instructions (AI) and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations:
S/O are required to be a visible presence within the Library at all times whilst on shift, walking around the floors being alert and responsive ensuring noise levels and behaviour are acceptable. Any unacceptable behaviour should be logged and escalated to UCA Facilities Management.
-Carry out all site duties as outlined in the Assignment Instructions
-Stay up-to-date with changes to AI and suggest improvements
-Ensure compliance with UK laws and regulations
-Always wear your SIA licence on duty
-Follow procedures carefully and work methodically
-Complete mandatory courses required by contract
Training & Development:
-Finish all required competency training
-Pursue continuous self-improvement as guided by management
-Use technology to meet objectives and grow professionally
-Renew your SIA licence at least 16 weeks before it expires
Health, Safety & Security:
-Report health and safety risks immediately
-Stay alert to changes in your environment and act appropriately
-Involve others if situations escalate
-Remain professional in difficult situations
-Record incidents clearly in your notebook and report them
-Stick to your schedule and show commitment to Mitie and the client
-Make check calls on time as outlined in AI
-Contact emergency services and the communications centre when needed
-S/O are to be aware the building is not a meeting place for ANY employees.
-S/O are to ensure no publications or images that may cause offence to be on open display.
-S/O are not to smoke or vape whilst carrying out security patrols and to observe the Client's policy on ‘Smoking in the workplace. They should not smoke or vape in any other than in authorised places and never when talking to anyone other than immediate colleagues.
