Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Salary: £60,945 – £66,799 FTE per annum
Annual Leave: 37 days per annum (excluding bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period)
As our Financial Controller, you will lead the production of all financial management information for the College, continuously reviewing and updating the format of management accounting information for all Group companies to ensure that it is appropriate for decision making by management.
The post holder will provide effective support to clients in both Curriculum and Support areas, assisting the College to achieve goals set out in the financial strategy. You will lead and develop direct reports, ensuring responsiveness to all users and continuous improvement of financial systems, policies, and procedures, while being responsible for the day-to-day management of the Finance function.

Responsibilities of our Financial Controller:
Preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts and other reports for all Group companies, including subsidiaries and project ventures.
Provide expert advice, guidance and support to budget managers enabling them to effectively plan, forecast and monitor their finances.
Supervision and day to day management of the management accounting team and the College’s payroll function.
Responsible for management accounts preparation, budgeting process, forecasting processes and key financial metrics.
Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts, 3-year planning and DfE reporting requirements.
Develop and design where appropriate the KPI’s for Finance ensuring they are monitored and achieved.
Provide financial inputs into business reviews, budget holder meetings, SMT/EMT and other leadership forums.
Lead on forecasting, budget preparation and year-end analysis, supporting audit preparation and compliance.
Funding Environment Expertise: monitoring ESFA/DfE funding methodologies, changes in funding rules, and ensuring financial strategy reflects these.
Value for Money: developing benchmarking analysis, cost efficiencies and demonstrating VFM to regulators and governors.
Digital Finance Transformation: leading improvements to finance systems, automation and data analytics for decision support.
Partnership & Project Finance: supporting bids, partnerships and capital planning, ensuring financial viability and robust risk assessment.
Deputise for the VP – Finance as required and make a strategic contribution as a full member of the Senior Management Team.
What we’re looking for in our Financial Controller:
Qualified to degree level or equivalent professional qualificatio
ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant with significant practical experienc
Successful track record of managing and developing teams to achieve succes
Experience of successful budget management
Knowledge of the funding environment for FE and HE is desirable
Understanding of using financial KPI’s and relevant measures to describe and improve financial performance
Strong team leadership skills and ability to motivate and inspire others to reach organisational goals
