Job Scope:
We are seeking a PBS Assistant to join us at Catalyst Care Group. In this role, you will support the delivery of positive behaviour support across community services for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and associated mental health conditions. The PBS Assistant will work alongside PBS Practitioners and Specialists to help develop Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and Functional Assessments, ensuring that care is person-centred, ethical, and focused on improving quality of life.
As a PBS Assistant, you will contribute to incident analysis, audits, and training sessions while supporting staff, carers, and families with practical strategies to promote safe and respectful practices. You will also help services complete debriefs after incidents, encouraging reflective practice and continuous improvement.
The PBS Assistant will provide additional one-to-one guidance to frontline staff, empowering them to identify early preventative approaches, encourage positive risk-taking, and implement person-centred engagement. Collaboration with families, commissioners, and multi-disciplinary professionals will be central to your role, ensuring consistent and sustainable outcomes for the people we support.
Do you have?
A clear understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, theory, and practice (PBS competencies desirable)
Knowledge of safeguarding practices and legal frameworks such as the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Human Rights Act
Experience working in health and social care, with at least 2 years supporting vulnerable adults with complex needs and behaviours
Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce professional reports and engage effectively with families, carers, and professionals
Experience guiding and training staff teams, with excellent facilitation and coaching skills
Resilience, problem-solving ability, and confidence in working under pressure
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
Career-focused, eager to learn, and motivated to make a positive difference
Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across community settings
