An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Hospital Out of Hours (HOOH) team as a Clinical Support Assistant.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Healthcare Assistant to become part of a team that co-ordinates and supports the care of patients during out-of-hours periods. You will provide specialist clinical skills to medical and surgical patients across the hospital, ensuring safe and effective care at all times.

This role operates primarily at night, 365 days a year, and will also include weekend and bank holiday day cover as part of the rota.

As a HOOH Clinical Support Assistant, you will work both independently—responding to requests and escalations from the wards—and collaboratively with the HOOH Co-ordinator to ensure the service runs efficiently and responsively.

We are seeking an individual with a proven background as a Healthcare Assistant, who is highly motivated, organised, and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with colleagues at all levels are essential, as are excellent teamwork and leadership abilities.

If you are passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and thrive working autonomously as part of a supportive team, we would love to hear from you.

As a member of the team, the Clinical Support Assistant will be expected to assist qualified staff in delivering a caring and effective, patient focused service in keeping with the aims, objectives and standards of the Trust, with particular reference to specialist clinical skills.

Undertake administrative and clerical duties as required to support the Hospital Out Of Hours dept in the delivery of effective patient care.

Assist with the maintenance of a safe environment including assisting the senior members of the HOOH team in clearing up rooms and equipment with particular reference to infection control and safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Under guidance from qualified staff, sensitive and appropriate clinical care is delivered to meet individuals’ needs, respecting personal dignity and beliefs

Information is handled and exchanged with care, accuracy and sensitivity, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times

Work across role boundaries and in a variety of specialities, providing comprehensive, holistic care, sensitive to the needs of patients in the service areas covered by the Hospital at Night Team

Effective communication is maintained within care team and between other care teams, patients, relatives and visitors

Escort patients/relatives/carers to and from other hospitals/trusts both within and outside the Trust headquarters

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
