About the Role

We are seeking a highly competent Appointed Person (CPCS A61) to join our team and take responsibility for the safe planning, organisation, and execution of lifting operations across our construction projects.

As the appointed lifting authority on-site, you will ensure all crane and lifting activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with LOLER, BS 7121, and company procedures.

This is a critical role for an experienced professional who can provide expert guidance, coordinate with site teams, and produce detailed lift plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, and authorise lifting plans and risk assessments in line with statutory requirements and company standards.

  • Conduct site surveys to assess ground conditions, crane positions, and lifting routes.

  • Liaise closely with crane supervisors, slinger/signallers, and project managers to ensure full compliance and coordination.

  • Select appropriate cranes, lifting accessories, and equipment for each operation.

  • Monitor and audit lifting activities to ensure adherence to health and safety protocols.

  • Provide technical advice and training to site teams regarding lifting operations.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with CPCS, LOLER, and HSE regulations.

Requirements

CPCS Appointed Person (A61) - valid and in date.
Proven experience as an Appointed Person or Lift Planner in construction or civil engineering.
Strong working knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, BS 7121, and general lifting best practice.
Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills.
Ability to produce professional lift plans (manual or CAD-based).
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to multiple sites if required.
