THE COMPANY
An established and reputable law firm based in Stafford is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join its friendly and professional finance team. The firm provides a comprehensive range of legal services to both individuals and businesses across four offices. This is a full-time, permanent position based at the firm’s Head Office in Stafford, working within a supportive and well-established accounts team.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Legal Cashier will play a key role in supporting the firm’s financial operations and ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.
Key responsibilities include:
• Preparing and raising client invoices for costs and disbursements
• Accurately applying and recording VAT
• Processing payments via various methods (cheques, BACS, CHAPS, etc.)
• Managing daily banking activities and inter-account transfers
• Performing regular bank reconciliations
• Recording transactions using the firm’s legal accounts software
• Producing monthly management and financial reports
• Ensuring all cash and cheques are banked daily
• Maintaining compliance with SRA Accounts Rules
• Providing administrative support including data entry and filing
This is a busy but rewarding role, ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a proactive approach to work.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong IT and Excel skills
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
• Professional communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
• Previous experience within a legal accounts environment
• Familiarity with SRA Accounts Rules and legal accounting software
• Experience handling high volumes of transactions
