The Role
As a Post-16 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Work 1:1 and with small groups to support students aged 16+ with SEND
- Assist learners with autism, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, and social, emotional, or mental health needs
- Adapt learning materials and provide in-class support across a range of subjects
- Offer encouragement, structure, and calm, consistent guidance throughout the day
- Deliver focused interventions and help students manage transitions and build life skills

You'll play a vital role in helping young people achieve their potential - both academically and emotionally.

The Ideal Person and Skills Needed
To thrive as a Post-16 SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll need:
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a Degree in a related field
- Experience supporting individuals with additional needs - either in education, care, or support work
- A calm, empathetic approach and a genuine passion for inclusive education
- Strong communication and teamworking skills
- Adaptability, patience, and a nurturing presence

Ideal for:
- Experienced TAs ready to step into a further education setting
- Support workers, youth workers, or care professionals seeking a classroom-based role
- Newly qualified TAs or graduates with drive, energy, and compassion

This inclusive further education college is deeply committed to supporting students with SEND. The college's SEND provision is fully integrated, working closely with teaching staff across a wide curriculum. Staff are valued, supported, and encouraged to grow professionally in a collaborative, student-focused environment.

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
