We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated paediatric doctor to join our team as a fellow. This post is ideal for a senior Paediatric or Emergency Medicine trainee (ST3+) looking to develop their portfolio in leadership, education and management skills that will be invaluable to you as a new consultant.

Applicants will be supported in developing an area of interest from these available opportunities.We welcome all applicants to this post and are willing to discuss flexible working arrangements and flexible start dates.We run a self-rostered rota for all our clinical fellows.

The post holder will work their contracted hours on a dedicated Paediatric ED middle grade rotaand will gain experience and training in managing medically unwell children as well as injured children in a busy Trauma Unit, which is part of the North East London Trauma Network. The successful candidate will be supported by a team of three Paediatric Emergency Medicine consultants and seventeen adult Emergency Medicine consultants, and will provide advice, teaching and supervision to more junior colleagues in the Paediatric Emergency Department.

The North Middlesex University Hospital, Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust is a medium-sized acute and community trust with over 525 beds and over 600 community staff, serving more than 600,000 people living across Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.

In the year ending 31 March 2022, the Trust reported a turnover of £419.7m and employed almost 4,000 staff. Following the transfer of Enfield Community Services on 1st April 2023, this has increased as we have welcomed over 600 new staff including District Nurses, Community Matrons, Community Physiotherapists, Psychologists and many more across a wide range of adult and children's community services in Enfield.

In January 2025 we joined the Royal Free group: it is an exciting time to join North Mid as we continue our journey to become an integrated care organisation to deliver high quality, seamless care in our local communities, with a focus on tackling health inequalities.

North Mid is part of North Central London integrated care system - consisting of the NHS and Local authority organisations in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. As with other ICSs, we are working increasingly closely with partners and indeed many of our financial and performance objectives are measured at this system level. Whilst all organisations remain as standalone statutory bodies, we have an ICS infrastructure for making shared decisions and agreeing shared approaches.

Roles and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to;
• Provision and maintenance of a high standard of care for all patients in the Paediatric Emergency Department.
• Effective communication with medical and nursing staff of other disciplines, ancillary workers, and paramedics in the interest of achieving efficient management of patients.
• Providing intermediate level supervision for junior trainees.
• Participation in quality improvement within the service.
• Facilitating education of designated junior staffing, inclusive of the nursing staff within the department.
• Assisting the Consultant team in promoting health care to the department’s patients in both a friendly and caring way.
• Having a leading role in resuscitation and trauma calls within the service.
