Job Description
To develop, promote and manage adult and family learning opportunities in relation to ESOL within Moray, with particular reference to the principles of Adult Learning, the Scottish Government’s and Moray Council’s policies of social inclusion and active citizenship.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver learning courses in English for speakers of other languages primarily targeted to the needs of people within refugee and asylum seeker resettlement programmes in Moray.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate learning opportunities, including accredited opportunities, within group settings and 1:1, online and face to face
- Establish, develop and maintain effective partnerships with all local and Moray-wide adult learning providers
- Implement Quality Assurance
- Undertake other duties as required
The Individual
- Previous experience of delivering ESOL learning to adult & families
- Relevant experience of teaching non English speakers
- Ability and experience to create ESOL resources including digital
- High level of ICT skills; office applications, social media, interactive tools and online platforms
- Ability to demonstrate key competencies for Community Learning and Development
- Qualification in teaching ESOL e.g. TEFL, CELTA, DELTA
- Relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent work experience in developing and delivering English for Speakers of other Languages
- Flexible, adaptable and highly motivated.
- Able to use own judgement and initiative within agreed policies and procedures.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills written, digital and oral
- Good command of English
- Effective time management skills
- Competent use of IT equipment, software, good keyboard skills and a working knowledge of integrating multi-media approaches into adult and family learning.
- You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car.

- Must be able to lift and carry equipment/resources, i.e. laptop, books/workbooks
This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
