Job summary:
Be accountable for and ensure the smooth running of the logistics and despatch function. Including people, vehicles and products are in the right place at the right time. You will be responsible for the management of all fleet vehicles and agency driver scheduling for local and national drops.
You will work cooperatively with your manager, colleagues, and team members and provide appropriate cover for other teams as and when necessary. Lead on Health, Safety, people management and engagement for your team and liaise with HR or senior managers as necessary.
Essential Qualifications:
Maths Functional Skill 2 or equivalent
English Functional Skill 2 or equivalent
IT Functional Skills or Digital Skills entry Level Qualification or Equivalent or relevant experience.
Driving License suitable for driving in the UK including C1.
Forklift Truck Trained
Essential Experience:
Microsoft Office and specifically Excel
IT stock control, such as Data Flow or equivalent;
Government sites for managing fleet vehicles statutory requirements MOT etc;
Fork Lift Truck and Side Loader experience
Despatch/delivery transportation
Restricted Operator License or willing to undertaken training.
Key Tasks:
Be accountable for fleet vehicles ensuring all vehicle checks, MOTs, costs and services and 12-week inspections are completed. If not completed ensure this is raised with the Operations Manager immediately with an explanation and plan to resolve.
Manage fleet vehicles as necessary to meet the requirements of a Restricted Operators Licence. Additional training may be provided.
Manage all Driver activities and communications to ensure a seamless logistics process. This will include Agency communications and driver arrangements.
Provide cover for other colleagues as required during holidays and other absences and ensure smooth running of departments.
Be accountable and responsible for your teams work and raise compliments, comments or concerns including errors as soon as possible.
Be accountable and responsible for the quality of all assembled goods and ensure that despatch errors are kept to a minimum.
Working with the Operations Manager, investigating and remedying any complaints and liaise with the relevant customer to ensure a satisfactory resolution.
Working with the team, consider ways of embedding improved systems and processes to reduce/remove errors in the assembly and packing stage.
Working with your team ensure that pallets are organised and safely stored and maintained.
Undertake a stock control function of the empty pallets and bags, if ‘on call’ off check as required.
Liaise and work with the Operations Manager to ensure smooth flow of department and factory.
In the absence of team members, you provide or arrange appropriate cover as necessary.
Be responsible for container arrangements and relocation of goods and undertake stock control activity as necessary.
Ensure quality control arrangements are in place and spot checks take place.
Manage, oversee and undertake Stock checks and sundries both at works and other storage sites supporting the end of month and end of year procedures.
Undertake supervisors training on People management and be first line supervisor for the team.
Work with and support your team in all aspects of Health and Safety and undertake appropriate training as necessary.
Ensure your behaviours reflect the standards and behaviours outlined in company policy and Core Values and lead by example.
Ensure the yard/department is maintained in a clean and tidy manner and aligned to Health & Safety Standards.
