We currently have an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant practitioner to join our team, providing key SEN support within the classroom on a 1:1 basis and working closely with other teaching staff to ensure provision is effective and that learning needs are met. Job overview As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll provide personalised SEN provision on a 1:1 basis, supporting the pupil in accessing the curriculum at an appropriate level and adapting the learning to make it accessible for students with specific needs. This role also involves providing pastoral support, and you’ll monitor progress to feed back to the class teacher whilst working closely with relevant staff to ensure an individual can achieve to the fullest extent. Job requirements NVQ Level 3 or equivalent as a minimum GCSE English and Maths at C grade or above Ideally someone with experience, interest and passion for supporting pupils with SEN and utilising strategies to manage behaviours and meet needs, including supporting speech and language Ability to effectively communicate on the pupil’s progress, with strong written and verbal communication skillsIdeally someone who is aware of trauma informed practice The successful candidate will: • Be determined to make a difference in children’s progress and development.
• Be able to deliver (with training) intervention programmes and strategies as directed by the Inclusion Lead, outside agencies, e.g. Speech and Language Therapist.
• Be able to facilitate 1:1 and small group interventions that motivate and encourage children.
• Be firm yet fair, able to demonstrate and hold effective professional relationships and boundaries with children.
• Have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Be able to work as part of a team and through their own initiative.
• Have effective English and Maths skills/knowledge (GCSE equivalent).
• High expectations of themselves and the children they work with, including promoting and fostering independence.Why join us?
