Are you a skilled and motivated HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist looking to expand your experience in Point of Care Testing (POCT)?
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic POCT team based within Pathology at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW). You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective POCT service across the Coventry and Warwickshire pathology Network (CWPS).
This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced and evolving area of laboratory medicine, working closely with clinical teams and device users across multiple sites.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for POCT devices Trust-wide.
• Monitor device and user performance using internal quality control (IQC) and external quality assessment (EQA) schemes.
• Deliver training and competency assessments for clinical staff using POCT devices.
• Assist in the implementation and validation of new POCT equipment and technologies.
• Contribute to the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Trust policies.
• Ensure compliance with MHRA, ISO 22870/15189, and other relevant regulatory standards.

• To perform the role of the Point of Care testing BMS within the POCT Department.
• To monitor performance of POCT devices by undertaking minor maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, informing the POCT Coordinator of situations requiring further action
• To promote POCT quality and safety regulations and directives enabling the Trust to meet the requirements of: MHRA guidelines, ISO15189 standards and relevant CQC standards
• To assist in planning one’s own workload, and that of other Junior staff within the POCT team.
• To develop, organise and deliver training sessions (in conjunction with the POCT Coordinator) on POCT devices, based on the POCT Standard Operating Procedures, for medical, nursing and AHP staff who use POCT devices/methods
• Support in the implementation of new POCT Devices.
• To participate in meetings related to POCT as required e.g. POCT committee and team meetings, liaison with Ward Managers and contract review meetings.
• To liaise and work with all members of the POCT team and support the services across the Trust sites and community settings.
