About the Role
We are seeking a committed and experienced RI to oversee the operation and quality of care in our residential home for children with EBD and LD needs. This role is crucial in ensuring the home meets the highest standards of care, in line with Ofsted regulations, the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards.
As the Responsible Individual, you will provide effective governance and oversight, ensuring the Registered Manager and staff deliver safe, nurturing, and outcome-focused care for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the home operates in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards (e.g. Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Working Together to Safeguard Children).
• Provide strategic oversight, support, and supervision to the Registered Manager.
• Regularly monitor the quality of care, safeguarding procedures, and staff performance.
• Support the home to achieve and maintain at least a “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted rating.
• Promote a culture of high aspiration and continuous improvement across the home.
• Ensure effective staffing levels, recruitment, training, and development of staff teams.
• Champion the voice and rights of children and young people, ensuring their needs and wishes are central to care planning.
• Oversee the home’s budget, health and safety, and risk management processes.
• Liaise with external professionals, including local authorities, social workers, and inspectors.
• Provide reports to the Registered Provider and contribute to strategic planning.

Requirements
Essential:
• Significant experience in children's social care, preferably within a residential care setting.
• In-depth knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted inspection frameworks.
• A recognised Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
• Proven leadership and safeguarding experience.
• Ability to work flexibly and travel to the home regularly.
• Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Experience as a Registered Manager
Desirable:
• Experience as a previous Responsible Individual.
• Understanding of trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches.
