We are looking for an Occupational Health Clinician to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at HMS Neptune, in Faslane, Helensburgh.

This is a locum role (18.75 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Pay rate:
PAYE – £24.59 per hour
Umbrella - £28.28 per hour

Job Description:
• The Occupational Health Clinician (OHC) will support the delivery of a peripatetic occupational health (OH) service within an area of responsibility, which requires travel between base location and assigned units
• Support the delivery of a peripatetic Occupational Health (OH) service which requires travel between base location and assigned units. The majority clinical activity is delivered face to face in the SP’s workplace / military environment or a clinic setting, therefore often requiring travel.
• Manage own clinical caseload and proactively support the service person (SP) through their clinical pathway in accordance to best practice, current legislation and DPHC policy.
• Support the development of relevant policy and procedures in relation to clinical delivery aligned to National standards and guidelines.
• Participate in clinical supervision provided by clinical lead and engage in PADR development alongside the NCCPM and Band 7.
• Provide clinical advice and training on the clinical value of OH to other members of the multidisciplinary team, and external agencies / organisations as requested.
• Provide specialist, person-centred care which considers safety, privacy and dignity using advanced clinical knowledge.
• Deliver care for the Defence service population, liaising with the chain of command (CoC), single services (sS) and other specialist Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) pillars.
• May be required to work outside of standard working hours and support other DPHC sites where there is a business need for them to do so. This will be within a reasonable travelling distance defined in MoD policy.
• Will need to be enthusiastic and committed to service delivery and improvement, can cope well under pressure, be flexible and assertive and can communicate at all levels. They will need to function as a member of the MDT, whilst working at a highly autonomous level.
• Demonstrates effective decision-making skills along with the capacity to plan, organise and designate priorities in the wider arena.
• Will be obligated under law to safeguard the confidentiality of Personal / Medical information that they may have access to during their duties, which must not be communicated to other persons except per current legislation. Any breach of confidentiality could result in Disciplinary Action being invoked and provide grounds for a complaint against you and possible dismissal.
• May need to perform additional duties within the scope of their professional practice to facilitate the smooth running of the service


Essential requirements/ Qualifications/ Experience:
• A Registered Nurse or Occupational Therapist with current registration with an appropriate governing and regulatory body (NMC or HCPC).
• Current and in-depth clinical and management experience within Occupational Health.
• Evidence of continuous professional development and the practical application of new skills to the workplace.
• Current certificate of Hepatitis B, Rubella, measles, and Varicella immunity.
• Current driving licence. This role is peripatetic and cannot be delivered using public transport.
