We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our dynamic Chemistry Department as a Lecturer in Chemistry, with research interests that align with our thematic priority in Organic Chemistry. This position is offered on the Education and Research pathway, with a primary focus on research excellence.
Research Focus
The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s internationally recognised research in chemistry, particularly in areas with strong industrial relevance and societal impact. We welcome applicants with expertise in one or more of the following key areas:
Organic synthesis with industrial applications, including the development of polymers, and specialty chemicals.
Functional organic materials and organometallic chemistry, with relevance to electronics, packaging, automotive, and advanced manufacturing.
Green and Sustainable Chemistry, including catalysis, renewable feedstocks, solvent alternatives, and low-waste synthetic methodologies.
Teaching and Supervision
In addition to research, the successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will contribute to curriculum development, student engagement, and the department’s commitment to inclusive and innovative education.
The successful candidate will:
Develop and lead an independent, internationally competitive research program in organic chemistry, with a focus on polymer synthesis and/or functional organic material design.
Secure external research funding from national and international sources, and actively engage with industry partners.
Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within the department and across the university.
Deliver engaging and innovative teaching in organic synthesis and related areas across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Supervise PhD and MSc research students, and contribute to curriculum development and enhancement.
Support students’ academic progress and career development through mentoring and guidance.
Contribute to departmental administration, strategic planning, and outreach activities.
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within the academic and research community.
