It is an exciting time to join us to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist with Older People in our Specialist Dementia and Frailty Community Mental Health Team in the North of Birmingham.
The base will be Reservoir Court in the Erdington Area of Birmingham. It includes an inpatient unit for older adults and has CMHT offices for older adults and outpatient clinics.

We invite applications from motivated and appropriately qualified candidates to join a team of ten community consultants, three inpatient consultants and a Trust wide Memory Assessment and Rare Dementia Service.
You will require a CCT in Older Adult Psychiatry (or equivalent) or be within six months of the award of a CCT (or equivalent).
This role will involve assessments, management and treatment of patients mostly over 65 years of age which includes both organic and functional presentations. You will need to be committed to provide both outpatient appointments and home visits, along with attending care homes and nursing homes across the catchment area. Duties will also include emergency and urgent clinical assessments, Mental Health Act assessments, supervision of resident doctors in the team and working as an MDT with all professional colleagues within and outside the team.
There will be opportunities for collaborative working with system partners with widening PCNs and ICS in the new model of community transformation.
Welcome to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. Our 4000 clinical and support staff help us to improve mental health wellbeing and meet the needs of the 70,000 people we serve each year. We provide a range of mental healthcare services across Birmingham and Solihull, as well as specialised services nationally. We also offer medical, nursing and psychology training and are proud of our international reputation for both research and innovation.
Our population is culturally diverse, characterised in places by high levels of deprivation which create an increasing demand for our services and a necessity for us to make sure everyone can access the help they need. We are a team of compassionate, inclusive and committed people working together to provide excellent care to support our community. If you are looking for a place to belong, where you can make a real difference to people’s lives, join our team where our warm welcome is waiting for you.
North Hub CMHT manages a caseload of approximately 1900 patients and as a team, an average of 25-30 new referrals each week. Most new assessments are conducted by the allocated team clinicians and patients are allocated to doctors as appropriate.
Please see the attached job description for full details of the role.
