Your new company
An excellent opportunity has arisen within a large UK-based multidisciplinary consultancy for a Senior Building Surveyor. This is a brand-new role born out of the growth of the business and will sit within an established team of 4 other Building surveyors within the Bristol office. This role will focus on large projects within the Public Sector space, such as, local authority, schools and social housing, with the majority of projects being located in the South West of England and South Wales.
The wider business has 30 offices across the UK where you will have a pool of experience and expertise to draw on. Your new role

Key Objectives

  • Running larger, more complex projects with some autonomy
  • Takes control of own workload and planning
  • Working with and managing more junior staff on project and survey commissions
  • Delivery of projects and reports to agreed time and quality

Principal responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Runs large and/or complex projects - monitors progress and expenditure
  • Plans and manages project resources
  • Assistance with bid process and business development activities
  • Prepares and oversees designs and reports
  • Undertakes surveys in accordance with the firm's procedures
  • Represents the firm at client meetings, presentations etc.
  • Monitors day-to-day programming and planning
  • Assists with planning and managing project resources, including technical development of junior staff.
  • Day-to-day control of internal costs, including drafting fee invoices
  • Liaises directly with clients and other stakeholders as appropriate
  • Develops and sustains client relationships
  • Responsible for checking of documents, reports etc as appropriate
  • Responsible for ensuring that they understand and comply with all Health & Safety requirements, practices and procedures


What you'll need to succeed

  • Chartered Surveyor with relevant experience
  • Excellent technical knowledge and good business development skills
  • Promotes best practice in survey and project delivery
  • Ability to manage, monitor and control workload and resource allocation
  • Ability to recognise your own limitations and seek advice and support when needed
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage time with multiple tasks
  • Team player and motivated to deliver excellence
  • Ability to monitor progress and expenditure of projects
  • Undertaking relevant CPD activities
