Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust welcomes applicants to apply for this Locum consultant post in Ophthalmology with special interest in Uveitis at the Western Eye Hospital. This is a full time post within the Ophthalmology service.
Management of complex uveitis cases would be expected. We have a close working relationship with other medical specialties including rheumatology to provide support with management of systemic conditions associated with uveitis.
The role will also be job planned to session in the Ophthalmic emergency department located at The Western eye hospital and session in high volume cataract theatre lists.
For a fixed term of 12 months in the first instance

The post holder will be involved in:
• Outpatient care of complex uveitis patients.
• Undertaking A&E sessions at the Western Eye Hospital.
• High volume low complexity cataract cases in theatre.
• To maintain good communication with GP, optometrists, hospital clinicians and other allied professionals
• To provide teaching to medical students, other junior doctors, optometrists
• To assist in academic and pharmaceutical research activities within the department
• To assist in the management and development of the clinical service

To provide clinical expertise in line with agreed job plan. This will include specialist uveitis work in clinic.
You will be responsible for the patients under your care which includes those being seen by your team. The post will include working with the whole team and the wider department and being available for internal as well as external referrals.
The post will include imaging review on patients and may involve a more general session such as a general clinic or eye emergency department session depending on job plan and training route. There might be a need to cover other sessions on an ad hoc basis depending on the needs of the department. There is a requirement to keep up to date with ophthalmic practice.
The post holder will be expected to abide by the GMC good medical practice guidelines.
