About the Role
This part-time role is to join an established support team assisting our client to live as independently as possible in his own home and in the community. Although you’d be part of a wider and supportive team, you’d be working one-to-one with our client.
He’s a man in his mid 30’s who has a brain injury and epilepsy, and walks with a gait. He can be a little shy at first (and his speech can initially be a little hard to understand until you get to know him), but once he gets to know you, he’s an affable, caring and easy to talk to.
He loves farm animals – especially cows and pigs - and enjoys visiting farms and cattle shows, and works on a farm once a week. He likes to recycle, and he has a tank for tropical fish.
Our client also enjoys visits to Manchester airport to see the planes; he’s a fan of transport in general and is always very keen to go to train stations.
There will be domestic duties to perform, like cleaning and cooking. However, he doesn’t need any personal care - just prompts to shave, take a shower and brush his teeth, for example.

You will be required to drive our client’s car and be competent in driving both manual and automatic vehicles. This means that it is essential that you have a full driving licence and are a confident driver. You will also need to have business insurance on your own vehicle. Most drives with our client will be short local journeys but longer drives are possible when he goes on holiday.
