Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Location: Mountfield Heath School, Robertsbridge TN32 5FA

Salary: £12,543.75 to £14,440.00 per annum dependent on experience (Not pro rata)

Hours: 22.5 hours per week over 3 days – Monday, Thursday and Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Start: November 2025

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping our pupils develop academically, emotionally, and socially – often in ways they never thought possible.

This is a role for someone who thrives in a varied environment, is passionate about inclusive education, and is ready to support young people as they grow in confidence and independence.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing one-to-one and group support to pupils with additional and complex needs, helping them stay engaged and feel safe and valued.
Preparing and delivering engaging learning activities, in partnership with teaching staff, to support pupils’ academic progress and curiosity.
Supporting emotional, social, and physical development with patience and care, encouraging resilience and positive behaviour.
Taking part in a mix of classroom-based and outdoor learning experiences – from structured lessons to creative and practical sessions.
Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a consistent and nurturing environment that enables every pupil to thrive.

Mountfield Heath School caters for autistic boys and girls aged 5–11, many of whom have additional needs. Our independent special educational needs provision currently supports 44 pupils, increasing to 45 in January, on a spacious site with large classrooms and dedicated outdoor learning areas.

Our aim is simple: to equip every child with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We focus on preparing pupils not just for school success but for life beyond, encouraging them to reach high standards in every aspect.
