Are you a dynamic relationship builder with a passion for securing new business? Want to help shape Greater Manchester’s economic future?
MIDAS, Manchester’s inward investment agency, is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager for Advanced Manufacturing to play a key role in driving efforts to identify, develop and attract global manufacturing companies to Greater Manchester, securing inward investment, and creating jobs across the region.
Ideal candidates will be skilled in project and account management, stakeholder engagement, and passionate about the Advanced Manufacturing sector, with the creativity and flair to build impactful business relationships and champion Manchester’s strengths on the world stage.
Key Responsibilities:
Achieve annual inward investment targets by attracting new businesses to the region and supporting the growth of Greater Manchester’s existing foreign-owned companies.
Lead and manage bespoke inward investment enquiries, delivering tailored solutions that align with each client’s strategic objectives.
Deliver account management of Greater Manchester-based international manufacturing businesses at a strategic decision-making level.
Act as a subject matter expert for the sector within MIDAS and with external partners and stakeholders, providing expert insight and advice, with an insight into global sector trends and opportunities.
Develop and maintain a strong network of stakeholders and industry bodies to enhance regional visibility, identify new investment opportunities and grow the pipeline.
Proactively identify and engage national and international businesses, developing high-level relationships with global senior executives and decision-makers.
Represent Greater Manchester at key industry events, achieving targeted engagement and return-on-investment outcomes.
About You:
Demonstrated success in B2B consultative sales, business development, and strategic relationship management.
Expert in forging and nurturing long-term partnerships and relationships to create the optimal environment for inward investment.
Comprehensive understanding and experience of the full sales cycle, including research, planning, marketing, lead generation, project execution, deal closure, and client retention.
Skilled and persuasive negotiator with a proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive high-level decision-making.
Strong collaborator with a track record of delivering results through teamwork and effective stakeholder engagement.
A confident presenter and networker.
Availability for national and international business travel 2–4 weeks annually.
