What skills and experience we're looking for

Job Purpose

To support the teaching staff and work with the other support staff to enhance thedevelopment and education of pupils in accordance with the aims and policies of the school.

Main Areas of Responsibility

• Using acquired skills, support and deliverlearning activities and contribute to thedevelopment of work programmes tofacilitate effective teaching and learning

• Provide input into the planning andevaluation of learning activities forindividuals and groups of pupils to enablethe teaching staff to make informeddecisions when developing their plans.

• Supervise the activities of individuals orgroups of pupils both in and out of theclassroom (including educational visits)to ensure their safety and facilitate theirphysical and emotional development in

accordance with the school’s behaviourmanagement policy

• Monitor individual pupil’s progress,achievements and development andreport these to the teaching staff/linemanager to inform decisions takenregarding the Individual Education Plan,Behaviour Plans and Personal CareProgrammes for a pupil.

• Liaise with parents and carers inconjunction with the teaching staffto ensure effective communicationconcerning the pupils’ well being.

• Record pupil information as specified bythe teaching staff/line manager to ensurethe schools information systems aremaintained.

• Attend to the personal and physicalneeds of pupils so that their well being ismaintained.

• Prepare and maintain learning resourcesand ensure that the classroom is kept tidyso that the needs of the lesson plans aremet in a safe learning environment, whichcomplies with relevant health and safetyrequirements.

• Display and present the pupils’ work,under the direction of teaching staffso that it enhances the classroomenvironment and celebratesachievement.

• Attend staff and other meetings andparticipate in staff training developmentwork and staff reviews as required
