Crynodeb
The Ophthalmology Department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) provides ophthalmology outpatient facilities and day case surgery in our dedicated eye clinic. It is supported by an orthoptic department and low vision service. Many sub-speciality clinics have been developed and there is close communication with consultants in other specialities. The department includes ophthalmologists, ophthalmic nurses, optometrists, orthoptists, ophthalmic technicians, and eye clinic liaison officers from RNIB as well as a host of other support staff. In addition, ophthalmologists in training rotate to the eye department as part of the West Midlands regional training rotation, and the department also undertakes an active role in the teaching of medical students.
