Salary: £25,185 - £25,989 per annum + 10% Band B unsocial hours payment.
Hours: 42 hours over 4 on 4 off shifts inclusive of weekends & bank holidays

Role Overview:

This is a frontline service manual role working within the Street Cleansing Service, carrying out a variety of manual roles including litter picking, fly tip removal, service public bins etc.

The role requires operatives to work outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions. The role requires a level of physical fitness as requires aspects of heavy manual lifting; for example, fly tip clearance work. The role requires applicants to be able to work effectively within small teams and have the ability to lead the team if required.

The role requries applicants to be able to work with a wide range of hand tools and small powered tools as required.

Applicants must have good people skills and able to communicate with colleagues, members of the public and officers from other service areas when required.

The role will require applicants to hold a full UK driving licence and drive a variety of vehicles as required. Applicants must be familiar with completing daily check lists and paperwork, including having the ability to work from written instruction.

Applicants must be willing to undertake any necessary training required within the post.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.
  • Work effectively as part of a small team and lead the team when required.
  • Be responsible for a vehicle and carry out the required daily defect checks and reporting procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • Must hold a full UK drivers’ licence and be familiar with various vehicles.
  • Ability to load heavy items onto vehicles.
  • Able to complete and work from written instruction as required.
