Crynodeb
The post holder will adhere to NMC Code of Practice at all times and ensure ward compliance with and application of hospital policies and procedures. The post holder is responsible for pre-operative nursing and medical assessment of patients being prepared for a variety of surgical procedures. They will provide a comprehensive nursing and medical assessment, ensuring that all necessary investigations and results are collated prior to the patients admission. Liaise with Anaesthetist/ Surgeons regarding potential medical problems and issues regarding surgery. The role will also include appropriate onward referral to primary and secondary care providers to ensure pre-operative health is optimised. Act as the co-ordinator of care until the patient is admitted for surgery. Being able to take observations, phlebotomy skills, ECG and spirometry. Good communication skills, liase with MDT from other departments. To ensure trust values are adhered too at all times.
