Crynodeb

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assessment Officer to join our Assessments and Awards Team in the newly designed Student and Academic Services (SAS) Directorate. This role focuses primarily on providing specialist support for the examinations and certification activities, including the planning and delivery of the University’s formal examinations and the accurate production and distribution of official documents including certificates and transcripts.

You will play a key part in ensuring these critical activities are delivered accurately, securely, and in line with regulatory and institutional requirements. From managing complex data and liaising with external partners to supporting students and academic staff, your work will directly contribute to maintaining the University’s standards and supporting student success.

While your core responsibilities will centre on exams and certification, you will also support the wider delivery of assessment services across the team when needed, working collaboratively to ensure seamless operations across the academic cycle.

If you are highly organised, confident working with data and systems, and motivated by delivering an excellent service in student assessment activities, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual with experience coordinating large-scale, deadline-driven operational processes and activities who will be able to apply these skills to the organisation of the University examinations and award documentation distribution processes.

We’re seeking someone who combines strong organisational skills with a calm, professional, and empathetic approach. You’ll be able to support students with understanding and sensitivity during what can be a stressful time, while maintaining clear boundaries and upholding institutional and regulatory standards. Your ability to manage competing priorities while remaining approachable and solutions-focused will be key to your success in this role.

You’ll also have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with confidence using student records systems or similar databases. A strong customer service ethos and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders are essential. You’ll bring a flexible, team-oriented approach and demonstrate sound judgement, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

How will you work?

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and this role is Flexible and connected (Professional Services).

Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders.

It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken and influenced by the University examination schedules.
