JOB TYPE: Permanent, Full Time

SALARY: £28,816 per annum + Benefits

WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per Week, 9am – 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am – 4:30pm Friday, with the need to take part in the on-call service in the evenings and weekends

LOCATION: Eastbourne, East Sussex - This is an office-based role where you are expected on site 5 days a week


JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker supporting adults and children in safe accommodation across multiple sites. You will deliver needs and risk assessments, safety plans and tailored keywork to reduce risk and promote wellbeing.

As a Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker you will coordinate multi-agency support, facilitate group and one-to-one interventions and respond appropriately to crisis situations while maintaining accurate records in line with GDPR and safeguarding.

The Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker will champion trauma-informed practice, independence and move-on planning, including housing and benefits advice, ensuring high-quality, inclusive support within a residential environment.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker include:

• Deliver Person-Centred Support: Provide needs and risk assessments, keywork sessions and safety planning across refuge sites

• Facilitate Group And 1:1 Work: Run structured programmes that build confidence, resilience and independent living skills

• Coordinate Multi-Agency Support: Liaise with local authorities, police, health, housing and voluntary partners to reduce risk

• Maintain Accurate Records: Keep daily logs, care plans and incident reports aligned to GDPR and organisational policies

• Promote Independence: Support access to benefits, healthcare, education, training and move-on accommodation

• Ensure Safe Environments: Uphold health and safety, de-escalate incidents and use conflict resolution strategies

• Work Trauma Informed: Build trusting, respectful relationships that empower survivors’ recovery and wellbeing

• Support Housing Claims: Assist with Enhanced Housing Benefit applications and related documentation

• Contribute To Service Quality: Engage in training, teamwork and service development to meet residents’ needs


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

• A background in domestic abuse support with understanding of survivor experiences in residential settings

• Proven experience of delivering risk assessment, safety planning and keywork in trauma-informed ways

• Experience with safeguarding, public protection and risk management procedures

• Clear understanding of equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice

• Ability to manage crises, de-escalate situations and maintain professional records to GDPR standards

• First Aid qualified or willing to obtain and maintain the qualification

• Knowledge of housing and welfare benefits relevant to refuge services

• Full UK driving licence desirable and ability to work flexibly across East Sussex

Desirable

• Experience of managing or working within a residential service environment

• Experience of processing benefit claims and move-on housing support

• Presentation skills with confidence engaging external stakeholders and partners

• Social Work qualification or related professional training


This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check. All required checks will be undertaken as part of the pre employment process for any successful candidate.
